The DSC supported project aimed to create awareness about crop insurance among farmers and work with the state government, insurance agencies and banks to promote inclusion of loanee, non-loanee, sharecropping and tenant farmers in the scheme.

Using a combination of surveys, focus group discussions, key informant interviews and case studies, the assessment studied the role and effectiveness of NGO partners in creating awareness of PMFBY among farmers and panchayat members, the impact of NGO interventions in promoting PMFBY and the bottlenecks and constraints in implementation of PMFBY at the district and state level.
