CEPT Research and Development Foundation
Examining Development Interventions from a Gender/Social Inclusion Lens

The UKPACT supported project intends to help Ahmedabad and Mehsana cities of Gujarat to move towards a sustainable, affordable and inclusive low carbon future through development of a comprehensive electrification strategy for public transport (PT) and intermediate public transport (IPT) for the year 2026.
The consultancy services assessed Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) responsiveness and user perceptions of PT/IPT by using participatory tools to capture users' socio-economic characteristics, trip pattern, mode choice, public transport accessibility and travel experience. The research also explored avenues for enhancing women’s participation in PT/IPT operations to make travel safer for women.
